Proofreading and Editing

Accurate, clean, engaging content you are proud to share and represent your business.

Reputation is all in the detail

The nickname ‘Shirley Sharp Eyes’ has followed me around since I was a little girl. I’ve always had the most intricate attention to detail and been able to spot a spelling mistake a mile off. With my eye for accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar, my proofreading and editing skills can help create engaging, consistent content for your business.

I edit and proof in line with corporate style and writing guidelines, simplify content, check for common errors, consistency of language, tone of voice, structure, and formatting. I tackle words, not design, but if I feel like an element of your design could be improved, I will point it out for consideration rather than keep it to myself.

Common documents that cross my desk include reports, presentations, and brochures. I don’t edit books or university assignments, but I know a few people that do, so please get in touch if you’re looking for someone.

Why use a proofreader and editor for your content?

  • A fresh pair of eyes can spot mistakes you’ll never see

  • Objectivity and clarity of thought from an independent source

  • Make the best first impression on prospective clients

  • Accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail

  • Focus your time and resource where your strengths lie

How it works

  1. Send me the document you would like proofing and/or editing, along with your style guidelines and relevant examples.

  2. I send you a quote for approval. If required, we have a short briefing call so I can understand your requirements prior to starting the work.

  3. I proof and edit the document in line with your brief, tracking changes so you can see where amends have been made. I return the edited document to you for review and final approval.

What’s included?

Proofreading and editing services are flexible and approached on a project-by-project basis. Most clients only require a single review of content.

How much does it cost?

Proofreading and editing jobs are quoted on an individual basis and take into account number of pages, word count per page, and turnaround time. Please contact me for a quote.
